about Pat Pflieger

I’ve never eaten trilobite, traveled back in time, or been invisible, but like Max’s father I’ve taught college (with lots of grading), and like Janira’s grandfather, my grandfather was a police detective. I went to college long enough to earn a PhD in American Studies, studying books for children. I wrote a reference book about fantasy for children and a book about Beverly Cleary.

Now I write fiction for children and study American magazines, newspapers, and books published for children before 1873. I “publish” my research at merrycoz.org.

A very few of my favorite books:

What I’m working on: Some works of historical fiction set in the U. S.
